Shouldn’t I Do Cardio If I Want To Lose Weight? From seeing all the people doing slow, traditional cardio on the treadmills and exercise cycles, many people take it for granted that they should be doing the same thing. They are wrong. I routinely report on studies that show that cardio workouts don’t do much for weight loss at all. In fact, I was just writing about a study where a group did cardio for a year for an hour, six times a week. At the end of the year, the women lost only 4 pounds and the men lost 6 pounds. For over three hundred hours of cardio, I don’t think they got a very good return.
Now, just because you’re not doing traditional cardio doesn’t mean that the treadmill and exercise cycle are off limits. You can actually use these machines to do interval training. You alternate between high intensity and very low intensity on the machine. Working this way, you will target abdominal fat, and see the weight come off quickly.
